Fertility in Romania and Moldova: Exploring the Dynamics, Determinants and Impact of Social Policies – is a joint bilateral research project, carried out by researchers from the University of Bucharest in partnership with researchers from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.

The project aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the fertility transition in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, investigating trends in reproductive behaviour, as well as the social, economic and cultural factors that influence it.

The scope is to discover the main factors responsible for persistently low fertility rates and the differences between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The project analyses the impact of demographic policies on population dynamics in the long and short term.

The project’s results will allow policymakers to develop a set of intervention tools in the social and demographic field.
